Project Overview
The Project for Market Development and Enhancement of Value-Added Products in the Livestock Sector supports entrepreneurs engaged in livestock and animal production across the Southern Province.
The project focuses on strengthening existing businesses and increasing their capacity to produce new value-added products. It also supports improvements in product quality, standards, packaging and market development to expand investment opportunities and facilitate access to international markets.

Entrepreneurs engaged in the livestock and animal production sectors within the Southern Province.
Training programmes and technical guidance programmes will be conducted to support entrepreneurs in developing their businesses and production capabilities.
The following support is provided to help entrepreneurs enter and develop their markets:

| Machinery & Equipment | Priority-based assistance for machinery and equipment used in production development, capacity development and value addition, on a 50% contribution basis, up to a maximum of LKR 100,000. |
| Packaging Development | Assistance to develop the packaging required to improve product quality. |
| Promotional Materials | Support for printing promotional materials for the business. |
| SLS Certification | Assistance to obtain SLS certification for products. |
| Product Analysis | Support to obtain the testing and certification required to verify product quality. |
| GMP Certification | Assistance to obtain GMP certification for products. |
| GAP Certification | Assistance to obtain GAP certification for agricultural products. |
| Production Process Development | Support to improve the production process of the business. |
| Market Entry | Facilitation to help entrepreneurs enter the market. |
Selected entrepreneurs will receive support to develop their business activities on three occasions, with one occasion per year, as specified in the project document.
Selected entrepreneurs will be registered with the Southern Provincial Development Authority and included in its database.
Methodology
Entrepreneurs engaged in the livestock and animal production sectors of the Southern Province will be
enrolled in the project on the recommendation of the Divisional Secretary of the Divisional Secretariat
area in which they reside, or on the recommendation of the Director of the Department of Animal
Production.
